@PorterRidgeMSNC Plants Trees on Arbor Day Grown by Agriculture Students @ParkwoodMSNC
On February 20th, Porter Ridge Middle School Beta Club (Honors Society) students planted 21 trees for Arbor Day. This school was awarded Tree Campus K-12 status for 2022-23 thanks to the hard work of Ginger Jantz, and will be again for 2023-24 thanks to the support of Nancy Muhlitner.
These trees were grown at Parkwood Middle School’s nursery for 1 year – they put on about 6 inches of top growth during that time, but more importantly, they also put on a robust root system as seen in one of the photos attached. These trees should establish easily and put on good growth this year. They planted live oak, scarlet oak, hackberry, catalpa, and loblolly pine.
