The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program prepares students for leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities and privileges as Americans.
The JROTC program in Union County Public Schools is more than a military pathway—it’s a leadership program that helps students grow into confident, disciplined, and service-minded citizens. Open to high school students across the district, JROTC builds valuable life skills that prepare students for success in any career or college path they choose.
JROTC is a federally funded program sponsored by the U.S. Armed Forces and offered in WS/FCS high schools. It focuses on developing citizenship, leadership, responsibility, and teamwork through structured classroom instruction and hands-on activities.
Students join JROTC for many reasons:
Any high school student in UCPS can enroll in JROTC—no military commitment required. Students from all backgrounds benefit from the leadership skills and life lessons taught in the program.
Whether students plan to attend college, start a career, or serve in the military, JROTC equips them with the skills and mindset to lead with purpose and succeed in life.
Ask your school counselor how to enroll in JROTC.
