Parkwood Clean Energy students and AP Environment Science Students Team Up to Visit Lancaster County (SC) Water Treatment Plant
The SREB Clean Energy students and AP Environmental Science students from Parkwood High School took a trip to the Lancaster County Wastewater Treatment Plant on Friday, Oct 25th. This trip enabled the students in Clean Energy to collaborate with students in AP Environmental Science, in a cross-curricular setting allowing both classes to to see how STEM works in a real-world setting. During the guided tour, students were able to view the stages of wastewater treatment, the importance of engineering and design, and how humans depend on microorganisms to recycle wastewater. Students will continue to study human impact on the environment and the possible generation of biofuels. Thank you to the Lancaster County Wastewater Treatment Plan for hosting students from Union County Public Schools.
