New Century Scholars Application is Now Open
The Union County JobReady Partnership is excited to announce the opening of applications for the revised New Century Scholars Program. New Century Scholarships are available for students who plan to attend South Piedmont Community College and work toward an Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or Non-Credit (Continuing Education) program. Scholarship recipients will receive up to four semesters of tuition at the in-state rate for Associates Degree programs to be completed within three years, starting from the fall semester immediately following the student’s high school graduation. Students enrolling in Diploma or non-credit programs (Continuing Education) can receive awards to cover the SPCC registration fee necessary to complete a continuing education program of interest. The continuing education program should be designated to earn a certificate and prepare a student for employment.
In order to be considered for the New Century Scholars Program, students must complete all of the following:

- Complete and submit this application, including the essay and resume section.
- Complete and submit an application to South Piedmont Community College
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Decide whether you plan to use the New Century Scholarship to complete an SPCC Degree Program, an SPCC Diploma Program, or an SPCC Certificate Program. For more information about the difference, students should visit https://www.spcc.edu.
- Submit two letters of recommendation from staff (an administrator, teacher, counselor, etc.) at your high school through the online application.
- Submit a final transcript.

To fill out an application, students should visit https://bit.ly/2025NCSApp. All applications are due before April 1, 2025. Only students graduating from a traditional high school in Union County Public Schools are eligible to apply.
