Middle School Summer Camps

Please note: Campers must have their own transportation to and from camp daily. Free lunches will be provided to any student that needs one daily. Campers will be expected to be onsite by 9:00am daily and be picked up at 3:00pm in the car rider line of the school.  Please do not drop students off before 8:45am.

*Additional note: All camps the week of June 17-20 will only be three days due to the federal holiday on June 19th.

AG ADVENTURE: come on an adventure with us as we dive into hydroponics, eat our way into some food science activities, slide into soap making, fertilizers and soils plus more as we learn from guest speakers and a farm field trip.  Let me know what you think.

Cuthbertson High School

At Apparel and Textile Summer Camp, students will learn about design elements through sketching designs and learning about the color wheel. Students will be taught how to hand stitch and how to sew on a sewing machine. Students will leave at the end of the week with numerous projects including, embroidery pillows, pillow cases (using fabric they will tie dye), and  hand sewn felt animals!

Sun Valley High School

This camp provides engaging activities.  Students will learn a process for problem solving and have the opportunity to work together to solve a real problem.  Students will employ 3D Modeling software to create their own designs and have the opportunity to create 3D models of their designs using 3D printers.  Students will be introduced to computer coding as they create computer code to make designs on the computer. These software programs are web-based and the students will continue to have access to them after camp.

Finally, students will meet engineering and manufacturing professionals who will present drawings and photos of actual jobs currently being constructed and equipment they work with on a daily basis. They will see presentations and have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters and have the opportunity to visit production facilities and/or construction sites.

In Financial Literacy, students learn about budgeting based on their chosen career's starting salary, distinguishing needs from wants, managing debit and credit cards, housing options, transportation, and maintaining a good credit score. The camp emphasizes hands-on activities and essential skills development like communication and teamwork.

Projects will  include color wheel projects, kitchen design models and students will complete an entire house design project.  Students will leave at the end of the week with a 3D model of their dream bedroom to incorporate everything they have learned.

Students will use software to design and create a magazine advertisement and film a TV commercial for their product. In _Shark-Tank_ style, student teams will compete for the prize of “Best Marketing Plan!”

This camp will challenge the student both mentally and physically as an individual as well as how they function within a team environment.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Summer Career Accelerator Camp provides opportunities for students to engage in important life skills like teamwork, communication, and project-based organization. Architecture and Engineering is an ideal approach to acquiring these STEM skills as students work together to solve various construction challenges.

The Architecture Summer Accelerator Camp provides engaging activities. Students will employ 3D Modeling software to complete several design and build projects. Students will research, brainstorm, plan, and design scaled model structures using different construction methods and materials. In addition, the Summer Architecture Camp will have guest speakers and field trips to our local industry partners. Our local industry partners will demonstrate how their companies integrate Computer Aided Drafting into manufacturing.
