Healthcare Pre-Apprenticeship
Program Overview
- Students will take Health Science classes at their local school.
- Students will have the opportunity to earn OSHA-10, Stop the Bleed, and CPR (BLS).
- Students will have the opportunity to participate in work-based learning opportunities such as internships.
- Provides a potential opportunity to be selected for a Registered Apprenticeship Program.
- Provides hands on training to develop technical skills.
Program Qualifications
- Rising Junior or Senior.
- Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Students must be eligible to take the courses outlined in the Pre-Apprenticeship standards.
- Students enrolled in related instructional classes must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Pathways
- Nursing Assistant
- Requirements: Nursing Fundamentals and Practicum (40 hours) OR Community College Nurse Aide I (NUR3240 or NAS101 (48 Hours)
- May lead into CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) pathways at South Piedmont Community College
- Healthcare Support Occupations
- Requirements: Health Science I and Health Science II OR PLTW Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, and Medical Interventions
- May lead into CNA or Medical Assisting pathways at South Piedmont Community College
- Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations
- Requirements: Health Science I and Health Science II OR PLTW Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Human Body Systems, and Medical Interventions
- May lead into CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) pathways at South Piedmont Community College
More Information
- Completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship program allows students the opportunity to be selected into the Registered Apprenticeship program in partnership with South Piedmont Community College (SPCC) or other industry partners.
- The Registered Apprenticeship Program through SPCC or another industry partner allows students to work in the industry and further their education in the field.
