Congratulations to MRHS Students Who Placed In HOSA International Leadership Conference Over the Summer
HOSA is an international student organization available to students in the CTE program whose mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA, along with the Health Science Education curriculum, provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition for students enrolled in health science education or have interests in pursuing careers in health professions.
HOSA-Future Health Professionals conducted the 43rd annual Virtual International Leadership Conference (VILC) on June 24-27, 2020. The VILC hosted 7,300 members who successfully advanced from the Regional and State Leadership Conferences. VILC highlights included: 77 health-related competitive events; 64 educational workshops; 83 exhibitors; two keynoters: the nation’s #1 doctor –Surgeon General, VADM Jerome Adams, M.D., M.P.H.; and Barbara Pierce Bush, Chair of the Board of Global Health Corps.
Union County Public Schools was represented this year by Marvin Ridge High School. The Marvin Ridge Chapter participated in 11 different events with 21 attendees; several students competed in individual events while others participated in team events. The following UCPS students placed in the Top 10 at the Virtual HOSA International Leadership Conference in their respective events: Mansi Choudhari (Epidemiology – 1st place), Rachna Sehgal (2nd place – Cultural Diversities and Disparities in Healthcare), Megha Thumma and Lorie Nguyen (Forensic Science – 2nd place), Niyathi Gorantla, Saanvi Veeramreddy, Preethika Ratnam and Anisha Nannapaneni (HOSA Bowl Team – 8th Place), and Lynn Check and Max Beaulieu (CERT Skills – 9th place).
