Congratulations to CTE Teacher of the Year Finalist Scott Bryan from CATA
Scott Bryan is no stranger to the world of education. He grew up with a father who taught industrial arts and a mother who taught art, each at a high school where he grew up near Warsaw, Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University after changing his major from Computer Science to Education and has found immense value in everything he learned along the way. Mr. Bryan has been a teacher at UCPS for 16 years and has taught graphic design at Central Academy of Technology and Arts for 9 years. His classes include Adobe Visual Design, Adobe Video Design, Digital Design and Animation 1, Digital Design and Animation 2, Game Design, and Advanced Game Design. Mr. Bryan believes that everyone has value and loves helping students see potential in themselves, others and the challenges around them. When describing his role as a teacher, he said, “Each mind is a puzzle, and it is our job to help students navigate them.” Real life is full of challenges, and he strives to equip his students with the skills and mindset they need to thrive. Teaching CTE in UCPS has provided him with the environment and support needed to make that a reality. The value placed on innovation and collaboration at CATA has allowed him to create an arcade club where students designed, built and programmed an arcade cabinet from the ground up, form game production teams, and start a scholastic esports club that continues to grow and find success.
