Congratulations to CTE Teacher of the Year Finalist Mary Winn Rohleder from Sun Valley High
Mary Winn K. Rohleder is a lifelong resident of Union County and is honored to teach Business and Marketing classes at her alma mater, Sun Valley High School. As a product of Union County Public Schools, she credits her exceptional teachers for the impact they made on her educational journey. Her mother, who was also a phenomenal teacher, inspired her too.
Mary Winn is passionate about learning and teaching—whether it’s at home with her children, working with youth at church, or in a more formal setting like school. She loves her subject matter because all students need to know how to market themselves and make sound business decisions. Mrs. Rohleder states, “I believe teaching is the best profession because I have the privilege to work with the future every day. My favorite part of teaching is having the opportunity to touch lives and make a difference.” Advising DECA (An Association of Marketing Students) plays a big role in this and allows her to make connections with students beyond the classroom. In addition to her wonderful students, Mrs. Rohleder is blessed to be surrounded by outstanding colleagues and supportive administrators. She is grateful for her amazing family as well; she is married to Alex, and they have two children.
Mrs. Rohleder studied Business and Marketing Education at North Carolina State University as a Teaching Fellow and earned her Master’s in Business Administration from Campbell University. She is also National Board Certified and has helped write state curriculums and grants.
