CHS DECA Keeps on WINNING!
The CHS DECA Club participated in the DECA NC Career Development Conference Competition that was held at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro over the course of 3 days (February 24th – 26th) and came away with ALOT of success in winning awards, trophies, and the opportunity to compete at the International Career Development
The following is a capsule of the successes we had in the various Business, Marketing, and Finance competitions held over the 3 day event:
CHS DECA had one 1st place team in NC of 3 AND one of 8 teams from the US that are qualified from 1 of 2 National Rounds of the Knowledge Matters DECA Virtual Business Competition – Hotel (sponsored by the Marriott Corporation)that was held this past October of 2021). They will move on to the DECA International Competition in Atlanta in late April for a chance to win the Knowledge Matters DECA VBC Championship. (1st Place wins $6k, 2nd Place $3k, and 3rd Place $1k):
- Sanjana Ponnapalli, Srujan Ponnapalli, and Sai Nelluri
One 4th Place winner for Principles of Business Management:
- Srujan Ponnapalli (who also won 1st Place at the Regional Competition in December.)
One 6th Place winner for Accounting Applications:
- Thad Wilkin
Three 7th Place winners:
- The team of Snigdha Kavuri and Sophie Murray for Marketing Management
- Kaitlyn O’ Sullivan for Personal Financial Literacy
…and 2 of the Top Scores on exams:
- Connor Mack: Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
- Ethan Fink: Principles of Marketing
The members who won 1st – 6th and received DECA Glass will represent CHS in Atlanta in late April at the DECA International Competition.
There is a chance that the 7th Place winners can move up and compete (fingers crossed!!).
