Chart Your Course with CTE - FHHS Students Use an Interactive QR code board

FHHS Chart Your Course with CTE

“We wanted to create an interactive bulletin board to promote Career and Technical Education to students.” FHHS Career Development Coordinator, Deanna Outen, and Wingate University Student Intern, McKelvy Stone, used QR codes to inspire students for the upcoming course registration.

The CTE board entitled “Chart Your Course” features three sailing ships with various QR codes posted on the sails. When students activate the QR code with their cell phone, they will be exposed to a variety of CTE information. Outen said, “We feel like without CTE, students are riding a ship without sails. CTE can help give them direction, or chart their course so to speak.”

Senior Olivia Tarlton likes the easy-to-use board because, “Everyone always has their phone on them.” She commented that the QR codes make it more interesting than just having words on a board.

In addition to information on the various courses in the CTE Pathways, students can learn about internships and apprenticeships. Videos are also available from the recent High School CTE Expo showcasing the various academies offered throughout UCPS.

The board is located on the 400 hall at the bus lot.
