Union County Public Schools is partnering with the local Law Enforcement Agencies to create a retention and development tool for the surrounding Law Enforcement departments and Legal Services organizations. The Junior Academy will develop highly trained Security and Law Enforcement Officer and overall outstanding professional people. Students will be able to earn certifications in several areas while in high school and be prepared for a career in security services or continue at a post-secondary college or university.

Articulated credit is earned as a result of a student's completion of a CTE course and meeting the the following qualifications:
Additionally, students must enroll in a NC community college within two years of high school graduation and meet the following criteria:
Community college officials must verify eligibility of the courses listed on the submitted high school transcript to receive articulated credit. Students may be asked to submit additional supporting documentation or demonstration to receive credit. Colleges must follow the criteria of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) in awarding credit.

NIMS is a comprehensive, national approach to incident management that is applicable at all jurisdictional levels and across functional disciplines. It is intended to: Be applicable across a full spectrum of potential incidents, hazards, and impacts, regardless of size, location or complexity.
Students can receive the following NIMS certifications in the Law & Justice Academy:

Module IS-800
The CPO program is designed for security officers and students who wish to learn more about security/asset protection. It is for the career-oriented individual. The difference between a guard and a Professional Security Officer? Guard vs. Professional Protection Officer. Students may take the exam first and receive a certificate of completion, applying for certification when they have obtained the necessary experience.
